Don’t be a Victim of Smash and Grabs!

January 15th, 2016

Smash and Grab Burglaries have been making the headlines lately. Don’t become a victim! Safety and Security film can help protect people AND property!

Smashed windowSmash-and-grab burglaries catch the victim by surprise and happen quickly. It can happen Anytime, Anywhere and to Anyone. The perpetrators could be experienced, thieves or impulsive vandals. They break a window (Smash) and take all the valuables they can as quickly as they can (Grab). Even an alarm isn’t going to do much to prevent a Smash and Grab burglary. By the time the authorities are notified the burglars have already made off with as much as they could take. We have a solution to help prevent these types of break-ins from occurring. Safety and Security Film.

Safety and security film is sometimes called Shatter resistant security film or safety film. Sometimes it is even called glass fragment retention film. This material is an optically clear, multilayer, polyester film that bonds to the inside of the window to reinforce the glass and help hold it in place upon impact. The polyester material has a high degree of elasticity which helps make it more resistant to a quick and easy break of the glass. Making it more difficult to break the glass will delay the time the would-be robber has to enter the premises.

Safety and Security film can be installed in a couple of different ways. The first is installed on the daylight area of the glass. This means the security film will only hold the glass together and in the frame as long as some of the glass edges remains unbroken along the line where the daylight part of the glass meets the frame. Once the edge totally breaks the film and broken glass will come out of the frame. The glass will still stay together with the film but it will break away from the frame. This application is used mostly to bring the annealed glass to code.

Right side complete

Right Side complete with Wet Glaz. The left side is taped off and ready for application.

The second type of application is anchoring the safety and security film to the window frame itself using a silicone adhesive Impact Prevention Adhesive. This is called a Wet Glaz Attachment System. The film becomes a flexible membrane holding the glass together and in the frame upon impact. Using an Impact Prevention Adhesive will be the more effective installation when trying to prevent Smash and Grab Burglaries.

Safety and Security film is available in Clear and Tinted. Both options will reduce 99% of UV rays. Tinted Safety and Security film will have the added benefits of daytime privacy and help lower your energy costs. Clear safety and security film is just that, CLEAR! You will hardly notice it is there. We can help you decide which option is right for your project. It’s better to be safe than sorry! Give us a call for your free onsite consultation.

Sun can be damaging even in the Winter months

November 12th, 2015

heat morning ac afternoonIt’s that crazy time of year in Colorado. One day you have the heater on and the next day it’s the air conditioner. Colorado can have temperature fluctuations sometimes over 50 degrees! One day it’s 70 degrees and the next it’s 30 degrees! Yesterday it snowed in the morning and by noon the Sun had made her presence known and melted almost all the snow away. Like it never happened! This is part of the reason we all love Colorado so much. Our motto is, “If you don’t like the weather in Colorado just wait five minutes, it will change”! Window film can greatly affect the way the sun affects YOU and your loved ones in your Home, at Work and in your Automobile! Let’s see why, shall we….

First, in your home and/or office, window film can help regulate the temperatures so you don’t have to keep switching back and forth between heating and air conditioning. Window film helps reduce radiant heat flow to keep hot air OUT in the summer months. This will also help your air conditioner run more efficiently. On the flip side, window film can help to keep hot air IN during the Winter months. Window film acts as an insulate to the glass. When your heater is trying to find the cold spot in the room the window that is now covered with window film is no longer the cold spot. Applying window film will help lower your energy costs year round.

Second, UV protection. In the Winter months people tend to forget about sunscreen. It’s cold outside so most people don’t associate sun damage with cold weather.sun burn and frost bite Most people stay inside in the colder months leading them to believe sun exposure is not an issue. With over 300 days of sunshine in Colorado and our mile high altitude, we need to reprogram that mind set. Exposure to the sun is happening all around you even in the Winter months, even when it’s cloudy outside and even when you are inside! While you’re driving to work, sitting next to the window at lunch or soaking up the sunshine at home in your recliner reading your favorite book. UVA rays can penetrate through glass and are harmful to your skin. You are at just as much risk of being diagnosed with Skin Cancer in the snowy mountains as you are on the sandy beach! Did you know that in the Winter months in Colorado sun exposure can be just as dangerous, if not more, than it is in the summer months. The snow reflects up to 80%  (SkinCancer.org) of UV light from the Sun. Which means you are getting hit by the same UV rays TWICE! Most window films will reduce over 99% of UVA and UVB rays. Helping protect you even when you are indoors!

There is no doubt that without the sun, life would not exist. Plants and animals depend on the sun to survive. Humans depend on plants and animals to survive. It is the circle of life. We all need a little sunshine in our lives. Vitamin D is one of the main reasons we need the sun. Vitamin D helps promote healthy bones and teeth. There is a difference between outdoor sun exposure and indoor sun exposure. When we are outdoors UVB rays are triggering the Vitamin D production in our bodies. When we are indoors, clear glass blocks UVB rays but NOT UVA rays. This means your body is exposed to the more damaging UV rays without the normal protective benefit of Vitamin D production. Window film can help reduce over 99% of UVA rays. Sun damage affects can occur over time. You may not notice until it is too late. Start taking the proper precautions now to help prevent in the future! Give AAWT a call , we are here to help!

The Fight Against Skin Cancer

September 15th, 2015

Skin-Cancer-Awareness-PhotoAll American Window Tinting, Inc. cannot express enough the importance of protecting yourself and your loved ones against the effects of the harsh Colorado sun. Implementing a window film or window tint in your car, home and office is one important step you can take to help prevent Skin Cancer. Coming from a 25 year veteran in the window film industry (Richard Marti, president and founder of All American Window Tinting) has devoted his life to the fight against skin cancer. Most window film and window tint products reduce 99% of Ultraviolet Rays. Ultraviolet Radiation (UV) from the sun is the number-one cause of skin cancer in the U.S.

Skin Cancer risks

http://www.hughston.com/a-17-3-4.aspx

Web MD. Article – Cosmetic Procedures: SunExposure and Skin Cancer “Sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we think of as a normal part of aging. Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. The skin also bruises and tears more easily — taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you’re young, it will definitely show later in life.”

Truck driver for 28 years. Dramatic difference on left side due to sun exposure.

With over 300 days of sunshine a year and our mile high altitude, Colorado residents have an even higher risk of developing skin cancer if proper precautions are not taken. You may not realize this but simple every day tasks can leave you at risk. Commutes to work are getting longer leaving you exposed to UV rays on the left side of your body for a longer period of time. Over time the exposure to the sun on the left side will begin to age quicker and you may notice sun spots, freckles and even premature aging. This can be prevented when implementing window film on the windows in your vehicle.

The newest trends in building construction for office spaces and homes is floor to ceiling windows. Those big windows allow you to admire the views of our beautiful state but they leave youResidential Window Tinting and your loved ones at an even higher risk for Skin Cancer. With no window film on your windows UVA rays are still penetrating through the glass directly onto you. Most clear glass allows up to 75% of UVA to pass through the glass (Smart Skin Care Article). Window Film applied to your windows can reduce up to 99.9% UVA and UVB rays.  Even the Winter months in Colorado leave us at risk because the snow acts a reflector making the sun rays more intense as they bounce off the fresh white snow. Window film can help reduce glare, retain and reduce heat and help prevent Skin Cancer by reducing 99% UV rays.

Skin Cancer is preventable. However, the number of people in the United States diagnosed with some form of skin cancer continues to grow. One in five people will be diagnosed with Skin Cancer. Applying a sunscreen every day is one way to help protect yourself. Applying a window film to your windows  is another. When you apply window film to the windows in your car, home and office, you are reducing at least  99% of harmful UV rays which lowers your chances of being diagnosed with Skin Cancer tremendously.

We use window film products recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Check out this article from The Skin Cancer Foundation – The best sunshield for your car, home and office

In closing, Richard Marti knows first hand how important it is to protect yourself and your loved ones from the life taking effects from the sun, as one of his family members is currently going through treatment for Skin Cancer. It is a scary subject but one that needs more attention.   Take the steps to help ensure you and your loved ones won’t be one of them.  Give us a call for a free quote for your automobile or a free onsite consultation for your home or office.

Don’t Let Yourself Be a Victim

February 17th, 2015

Denver Police People are alerting people of recent break-ins that are happening typically during the day. These break-ins are happening all over the Denver Metro area as well as surrounding areas. Thieves are breaking into homes using rear access and getting in fairly quickly. They are even targeting vehicles looking for small electronics or anything valuable. Take a look at your area to see the crime maps here
Lets face it at some point of time we all fall victim to burglary of a car, home , or even a business that we own. We wake up, grab our coffee thinking it is going to be an average day, when suddenly you find a bashed in window and stolen belongings. Ouch, this certainly does not make your day and can be quite a frustrating process.  It could happen anytime of the day , anywhere, to anyone. I know you may be thinking it won’t happen to you but anything is possible.  There are some things here at All American Window Tint (A.A.W.T.)  can do to help keep your belongings safe.

We we do offer a multitude of security films to help protect your property as well as the belongings inside. Some of your belongings simply cannot be replaced so some preventative measures can be taken. When a thief breaks into a vehicle, business, or home  it can be because they can see something inside they know may be of value. Applying a privacy window film can be helpful making it nearly impossible to see what is behind the glass. This keeps the thief from seeing if there is something worth breaking that window for. However privacy may not be enough. When a window gets broken shards of glass go everywhere and it is dangerous. The risk of someone getting cut or hurt is likely and can also cause damage to the anything else inside such as furniture. So what can you do? You can apply a security film to the glass and this helps keep the glass from shattering.

So here is how the security film works. It is applied to the window. It functions as a multi function film. It creates not only privacy and protection, but also helps keep the glass from shattering all over the place if broken. When someone comes along and tries to take a hammer for instance , to the glass , it makes it much more difficult for entry. Many hits usually have to be made in order to enter at a very strong force however this causes a delay and cuts the time that the thief has to obtain the goods they may be going for. So with todays world, most vehicles, homes, and businesses have alarm systems. Once the glass is hit the alarm goes off giving the person trying to break in only seconds to do their job. The security glass makes this a problem and adds a lot of time to the clock when trying to enter.

We offer a variety of security films here at All American Window Tint which are made up of a micro layer construction coated with a thick adhesive designed to hold broken glass. This improves safety and security for any home, vehicle, or business. Other benefits to this film include; heat rejection , reduces fading of belongings inside the film, and glare reduction. These windows are GSA approved and we offer level I, II, 3A, 3B blast mitigation (bomb blast film).

So contact us today to let us help you protect what is yours and what you love. Things behind the glass are our most prized possessions. We will be happy to provide a free consultation with an on site estimate. We are an accredited safety and security specialist through International Window Film Association (IWFA). Window Film is not “One Size Fits All!”

January 12th, 2015

Finding the right product for your home, office or automobile can be confusing and overwhelming. Tint shops can carry different brands of window film as well as different shades of tint within each brand. The intention of carrying different brands of film and different products is to ensure that multiple options are available for the customer to choose from. This article will explore the different types of film that we, at All American Window Tinting, use for automobiles, homes, and offices.

All of the films that we carry are for automobile window tinting comes with a lifetime warranty and they reject 99% to 99.9% of UV rays. The warranty covers any blistering, peeling, bubbling, or turning purple of film. If we offer a lifetime warranty on all our automotive films and they reject the same percentage of harmful UV rays, why do we carry different brands? Well, let’s get a little bit more specific. Each film we carry can differ from each other based on one factor to multiple factors. It is usual to find that the darker the tint shade, the more heat is rejected. This is true for many films but with advancements in technology, manufacturers are discovering new ways to reject the same amount or more heat than a dark film while maintaining a lighter shade. However, since these films are high performing, the price for does increase.

3M and Huper OptikWhen talking about films for residences and commercial properties, the products we carry vary due to many reasons. Not only concerned about variety, there are certain types of film that can not be applied to certain windows due to safety or effectiveness. Since our professionals are aware of such concerns and know that not every job will want the same use for window film, we provide film to meet almost every need. All of our residential films are lifetime warrantied and our commercial films vary on warranties by 10-15 years. Another great option for window film would be decorative film. We offer an array of classic and elegant patterns with a variety of textures and designs. Decorative window film adds privacy, enhances design, increases safety, cuts glare and is scratch resistant.

At All American Window Tinting (A.A.W.T.) we are very transparent about everything we do and will work with potential customers to ensure that they receive the best products for them. We carry products that we believe in and would put on our own cars, homes or office windows, AND we have! Contact us today to find the RIGHT film for your car, residence or commercial business!

Why Any Season Is a Good Reason To Tint Your Windows

November 22nd, 2014

Any Season is a Good Reason to Tint Your windows!

Tinting your windows in the Fall and Winter months may seem like a waste of time. All American Window Tinting, Inc. is here to tell you, that couldn’t be further from the truth.   Even with the colder months steadily approaching the sun is Colorado is still shining bright. We will discuss some major benefits to having window film applied even in the colder months of the year.

Snow, sunshine, ColoradoThe Fall and Winter months in Colorado bring colder air but definitely not less sunshine.  You still need to help protect your loved ones, employees and your personal possessions from the damaging UV rays of the sun . A lot of the suns heat is reduced in the winter because of the cold air, but the Ultra Violet rays that fade upholstery, cause sunburn and skin cancer are actually amplified 85-90% when there is snow on the ground because the rays reflect off of the snow and back at you (SSA).  UV exposure is also worse the higher in altitude you are. That being said, here in Colorado we are more likely to suffer from premature visible aging, sunburn or even worse, skin cancer which has also been linked to melanoma, compared to other states. Most window films will reduce up to 99.9% of UV rays.  Which will help protect your employees, loved ones and personal possession.

Glare can be reduced significantly as well with window film. When the snow has fallen glare is intensified because it is reflecting off the snow at a higher rate that it would with no snow on the ground. Think about looking outside at night when there is snow on the ground. The darkness from the sky is brightened up by the whiteness of the snow. Now think about how much more intense that brightness if when the sun is shining!  Reducing some of the visible light coming through the windows, that is reflecting onto  your employees computer screens,  can help create a much more comfortable work space for your employees.  Which benefits you because it will help increase productivity!

Conduction and ConvectionThe Fall and Winter months also bring cold air. When you think about window tinting, you probably think tint to reduce heat. What if we told you tint can also help retain heat? It’s true, it can.  When the heat hits your window from outside, the heat travels through the glass and transfers to the air and other objects that may be in contact with the window. This process is called Conduction. In the colder months the process of Convection is more of our concern. When you are heating your Office or Home, the heat is looking for the cold spot in the room to heat it up. When the heated air hits the Interior surface of the glass the air is cooled, becomes more dense, and drops to the floor. When this happens more heated air rushes over to take its place and heat the area back up.  You may recognize this as a cold draft. So what’s the first thing you do? Turn up the heat.  Unfortunately, each 1-degree increase in a thermostat setting, increases energy use by 2%. Applying window film can help regulate the temperature of the glass.  With window film on the glass acting as an insulate, the heated air no longer recognizes the window as the cold spot!

The All American Horror Story- Exterior Freak Show

October 23rd, 2014

All American Horror Story- Exterior Show

Meet the Martin’s. They  just moved to Colorado, with their Min Pin creature from Salem Oregon. They are going to open up their own business  selling magical treats just in time for Halloween.  Upon moving to Denver, they  bought a new  car and purchased their very first Home.  What they would experience in their first month in Colorado was terrifying!

The Martins had encountered scary situations and seen the destruction that the ball of fire in the sky could cause in the past.  It was almost Winter in Colorado though and they were looking forward to the same dark skies that they were used to in Salem. What they didn’t realize was that 80% of the suns UV rays can pass through clouds, wreaking havoc on their possessions and even their own skin.  As the days passed they began to see they needed help battling the ball of fire in the sky. Even hiding behind clouds it was closer to them than it had ever been.

Mr. Martin did some digging and came up with the number of a company called All American Window Tinting. Their website was informative and educational. They had been helping others like the Martin’s conquer the ball of fire in the sky over Colorado for over 20 years. He knew AAWT was their only chance of surviving the horror they were encountering.

DArk Skies

It was the beginning of October and the weather in Colorado was paranormal. It wouldn’t be long before scary weather and the howling winds made their way into Denver. The sky would be covered with clouds and the howl from the wind could be heard for miles.  The weather would soon be uncooperative. They called AAWT for their help.

IMG_0123.JPGFirst was the Entrance in their new home. The primary problem was the ball of fire in the sky was burning their floors. The secondary problem was they could not sit in the Entrance and enjoy a Bloody Mary without the glare from the ball of fire blinding them. The inside of the glass was a spider web with bumps  and ridges.  They began to worry that there was no solution for the outside of the glass.  AAWT came out and provided a free in home consultation to ease their fears. The representative showed them an Exterior Neutral product that would work wizardly. It would help eliminate the damaging UV rays caused by the ball of fire in the sky and could be applied to the outside of the glass.  The film was applied with spine chilling results!

IMG_0130.JPG

BlackoutNext was the magical treats shop they just opened. The situation was a bit different this time. The ball of fire was not the problem. The ghosts and goblins were! You see, the Martin’s have a special recipe for magical treats. The recipe has been handed down from generation to generation. They needed a film that would completely eliminate the ghosts and goblins from being able to see into a certain part of their store and steal their recipe. AAWT had a recipe of their own. Blackout tint, but a little hocus pocus would be needed! The Blackout tint was a supernatural product. It had the ability to heat up the glass and cause it to crack if it was not tempered. The only solution was to apply it to the outside of the glass. This would help eliminate the chance of cracking.  The Blackout tint proved to be the magical potion. The ghosts and goblins were frightened by the results.

The last step was their car. The representative from AAWT noticed Mrs. Martin’s porcelain skin seemed a little more gaunt but only on the left side. What was causing this eerie condition? The AAWT representative had a pretty good idea how to solve this mystery. He asked about her commute to work. She was only driving 13 miles each way to and from. However, she was driving South to work and North to go home. Which meant the wicked ball of fire was beating down directly on her left side to and from work.  The AAWT representative showed her High Performance automotive window tints. These product would help eliminate the terrifying UV rays caused by the ball of fire and help end her nightmare. It was not midnight dark, it was a light neutral shade, but it was even more effective than  those devilish dark tints. She was reluctant at first and had some fears because  she had heard that the Ceramic tint can cause ghosts! There was no witchcraft needed with this installation. The car was tinted with wicked results.IMG_1267

It’s been over a year now and the Martin’s survived their first year in Colorado with the help of the window film wizards at AAWT . Colorado has some of the strangest weather in the USA. Most people don’t realize Colorado gets over 300 days of sun shine a year.  It is one of the most supernatural places on the Earth. Between the high altitude and the drastic temperature fluctuations, there are a lot of different conditions that must be taken into consideration when choosing the right product. AAWT employs only the best warlocks who have the experience and the knowledge to battle the ball of fire in the sky over Colorado. They have the magical solution for your project.  If you need a professional on your side give All American Window Tinting a call 303-936-1362.

Running a Business That Stands Out From the Rest.

October 20th, 2014

It’s only obvious that things like maintaining professionalism, competitive prices, and great customer service are all needed to run a successful business. I would like to talk about some things that may not seem as important when looking from the micro-level of successful business practices. These are the things I find very important when trying to stand out from the rest and make a name for yourself that people will never forget.

Being able to adapt, I’ve found is key to running a successful business. Mainly because I work in an industry that is constantly changing. The window film industry has been around for some time. However consumers are only now starting to see the value in window film because of breakthroughs in technology and advanced techniques. This means supply and demand is only going to go up. In order to improve your finished product, as films, automotive glass and tools are changing, it’s very important to be able to adapt to different, new, and possibly more difficult techniques. I deal with cases all the time that require a different technique from one job to the next. If I was set in my way of doing things (considering I’ve been tinting for over 20 years) the finished product wouldn’t be as well done. Continually educating myself, learning new techniques and staying open minded to new ways of doing things can and will make a difference in the long run. In other words, staying ahead of the curve so you can offer the very best to your customers.

Another key practice in running a successful business is to use and install products you believe in. It may be tempting for some business owners to cut cost by using low quality products to increase overall profit. Considering that a large amount of profit usually comes from repeat customers, using cheap products is a sure way to prevent those customers from returning, which will lower overall profit. I can’t tell you how many times a customer gets their car tinted for a very low price and finds that a very short time later the film is purple and looks terrible. Instead of going back to that original business to get it fixed again for cheap, they come to us willing to pay more because they now know it’s better to pay more and get a great product that is backed by a lifetime warranty. We see it happen all the time. People can tell when you can confidently talk about your products and its benefits and are willing to pay more to have that same confidence.

Take accountability, no matter what. Believe it or not people are more forgiving when you take accountability, rather than avoid negotiation to prove your right. Even when the situation was impossible to prevent. It happens every once in a while where a customer is unhappy with the work. Maybe there’s a flaw in the glass and they assume its dust under the tint. Maybe they don’t like the air bubbles around Advanced Solar Control Specialist copythe dot matrix and blame you for a “bad installation”. Either way, compromising to make the customer happy gives you a much better chance of that customer coming back than if you sent them away unhappy. People will blame you for things you didn’t do or things you couldn’t prevent. Swallowing your pride and giving a discount or doing the job over is well worth it once you hear that same customer referred a friend. They say a happy customer tells one friend but an angry customer tells everyone. They also say a successful man is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks that were once thrown at him. I’ve found these both to be true.

When it comes to running a successful business we could probably go on for days about what to do and what not to do. There is a lot of information and helpful tools available that allow one to run a successful business. I am a business owner and these are just a few things that I have come to learn are key practices that may really help your business to stand out from the competition.

Reasons for needing window tint, even in the winter

September 16th, 2014

Although there are many people who don’t mind the heat and get their cars tinted strictly for looks, the majority of us just despise that scorching heat or blinding sun that never fails to make those stop-and-go drives to work that much more exasperating, even in the winter. But there are actually even more reasons why tinting windows is a great thing to invest in. Today’s window films are very effective in reducing heat, up to 60%, which really makes a difference on those scorching hot summer days. Unfortunately, heat is only something we have to deal with about 50% of the time. What about the other 50% of time when it is anywhere from a comfortable temperature to cold? Well, if the sun is out, there are still Ultra Violet rays being absorbed by your skin and this is not a good thing. Living in Colorado, we get over 300 days of sun a year, many of which are also in the winter. A lot of the sun’s heat is reduced in the winter because of the cold air, but the Ultra Violet rays that fade upholstery, cause sunburn and skin cancer are actually amplified 85-90% when there is snow on the ground because the rays reflect off of the snow and back at you (SSA). Ultra Violet rays don’t only cause short term problems like sunburn but is also the main cause of premature visible skin aging such as wrinkles and age spots (IWFA), which is enough of a reason for many to want to avoid these dangerous rays and get window tint applied to their vehicles. UV exposure is also worse the higher in altitude you are. That being said, here in Colorado we are more likely to suffer from premature visible aging, sunburned or even worse, skin cancer which has also been linked to melanoma, compared to other states.

Another one of the many reasons one would consider window tinting is to reduce energy costs. Yes, its true, applying tint to windows can actually reduce energy costs up to 50% (Gila) which is a lot of money over time. When there is heat hitting your window from outside, the heat travels through the glass and transfers to the air and other objects that may be in contact with the window. This is called the heat conduction 0200process. If tint is applied to the glass, it’s critically designed qualities allow it to reject a significant amount of UV rays, much more then glass alone (IWFA). Because of the material used to create the film it is able to reflect more light than the glass would have been able to otherwise, reducing glare, brightness, and even more heat. Because conduction is not happening as rapidly with the window tint applied, the air conditioner doesn’t have to work as hard to cool down the air that is getting heated by the window through the conduction process. This also works the other way around during the winter by keeping cold outside air from conducting thought the window to the warm air inside.

One of the least known uses for tint is to prevent breakage and provide safety if the glass is ever broken. Annealed (untreated regular) glass is not very strong and when broken can be very dangerous a0109nd even fatal due to the irregular shaped, sharp shards that it creates when it breaks. Applying tint to a window adds additional strength and keeps shattered glass intact if broken, preventing large shards from flying through the air causing injury. Even with treated or tempered glass which breaks into small squares, tint would be beneficial because it not only adds thickness to the glass making it stronger, it also acts as a protective layer preventing it from scratching and chipping over time which are all things that could happen regardless if it is summer or winter. These are just a few reasons why it is still beneficial to get tint applied in the winter.
